With the victory in race 1 and the second place in race 2 in the last round on the French circuit of Castellet, the English Dean Stoneman conquers the Super Trofeo Europe, consolidating the winning tradition of Bonaldi Motorsport…
Le Castellet (FRA). Bonaldi Motorsport wins the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe for the fourth time: it does so with the English Dean Stoneman who succeeds the Afanasiev-Kroes duo, winner in 2019. And it does so in the clearest possible way, that is, by closing the season with an excellent performance. In the fifth and final round held on the French Le Castellet circuit, Stoneman obtained a double pole position, won race 1 and finished second in race 2. In Saturday race, after an excellent start, the English flies into first position until the mandatory pit stop at mid-race: on exiting the pit lane he finds himself immediately behind Kevin Gilardoni, the direct rival in the championship. Stoneman makes a clean overtaking and immediately returns to the front, crossing the finish line in first position. The start of race 2 is particularly chaotic with Stoneman returning to the top on lap six, but with Gilardoni relegated to the middle of the group due to a mistake. After the mandatory pit stop, the English is third but the rival car is lagging behind: with an eye to the championship, the English decides not to take risks, but still he takes away the satisfaction of an overtaking that is worth the second position at the finish. The game is over! The title remains in Bonaldi Motorsport!
The team did a great job all season, for my part I always gave everything I had. At the end we did it: we won the title right at the last weekend, but peremptorily. I am very satisfied because throughout the season we have provided top performances and the championship victory is the right conclusion.
The season ended in the best way. It was a strange year for the circumstances that we all know: after the Italian lockdown in March, we made the decision to keep our commitment with the aim of winning the championship and in the very last race we did it. It is a great success and a huge thank you goes to everyone who supported us.
