The Kujala-Antinucci duo conquers in the Imola Lamborghini World Final the third stage of the podium in both races scheduled and gives Bonaldi Motorsport the world bronze…
Imola (ITA). After the incredible snowfall at the beginning of the week, the weather was much more mild at Imola during the most important weekend of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season, the World Final. The long weekend opened with the Super Trofeo Europe in satisfaction manner for Bonaldi Motorsport, on the way with the crew formed by Patrick Kujala and Richard Antinucci: the first got the fifth overall turn in his qualifying round, the second ripped the sixth time. The two races, the prelude to the World Final, gave a good fifth place in Race 1 and a retirement in Race 2, but they made it clear the potential and the competitiveness of drivers and team in view of the double world race, the real goal of the Marco Bielli’s men. The world first qualifying session was extremely tight with the top ten drivers in just six tenths of second: good Antinucci to secure the eighth place on the grid; also in the second session, the pole position struggle was very tedious with the first five drivers enclosed in less than two tenths of second and with Kujala able to snatch the fourth time.
The world first race, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, gives Bonaldi Motorsport an excellent third place thanks to a notable series of overtakings: taken from the fourth row, the Italian-American Antinucci climbed to the fifth position before the pi stop half racing; the Finnish Kujala completed the comeback during his stint goingto the third position with a spectacular overtaking to Amici during the 21st round at the Tamburello.
It was a comeback race: the car proved to be very steady and we managed to handle it at its best. The third final place is great, even at some point we hoped for something more.
Cameras all on Kujala at Race 2: Patrick, in trouble with the tires, has to to defend his position with tight duels with Costa, and then with Hindman, until he gives the car in fifth place to Antinucci; Richard, taking advantage of retirements and penalties from others, is in the third place and is good at resisting the final attacks of a fast Cozzolino. Bonaldi Motorsport then closes the season again on the world podium.
We had a problem with a connector coming in and I could not warm the tires in the warm up lap: in the first laps, at very low pressures, I had to try to defend myself as best I could. Eventually the third place can be considered satisfactory.
