After a good qualifying and a good start of the race as well, the couple Kujala-Pavlovic was forced to drop out due to the engine break after only four laps. The couple Spengler-Zonzini placed within the first twenty positions…
Lively breeze, pale sun and temperature around eighteen degrees: welcome to Zandvoort, welcome to the first session of Qualifying Practice. The two yellow Bonaldi Motorsport Huracán cars paraded on the way to the track one after the other a little bit before the middle of the session with Emanuele Zonzini in front of Patrick Kujala. However, both the drivers were forced to go back to the pit due to the Safety Car which joined the track because of an accident between two cars which left one of the two cars in the sand in a dangerous position. The strategy was reset and everything needed to be done from the beginning: only a bit more than ten minutes were left to qualify but much traffic was there, as predictable. The first driver to obtain a valid time was Zonzini, the driver from San Marino, who placed twenty-fourth. The Finnish driver, Kujala, performed well and during his second lap, he obtained the tenth position on the starting grid.
The start of Race 1, the first of the two scheduled races for the weekend, was excited, as it is normally in the German championship. Kujala started perfectly avoiding any contacts with the other drivers and keeping his tenth position. His rhythm was good and in line with his direct rivals. But his performance ended at the fourth lap when the engine of this car broke down. The result of the other couple, Spengler-Zonzini was instead influenced by the accident with the Corvette car driven by Assenheimer-Schwager during the very first laps. This accident penalised them of a lap compared to the group. Before the accident, Zonzini had again a perfect start which made him cross the first lap on the twentieth position while, after the pit stop, the German driver Florian Spengler kept a good rhythm which made him to cross the finish line with his car no. 32 within the first twenty positions.
It is now the time to reset and go back to what was well done during Free Practices and Race 1 Qualifying Practice. Tomorrow, with the second session of Qualifying Practice and Race 2, there will be the opportunity to perform well…
