On the legendary Belgian circuit, James Pull and Kelvin Snoeks give Bonaldi Motorsport the first seasonal win; success repeated in Race 2 by Blomstedt and Kujala in far more dramatic conditions…
Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). The fourth round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo gives Bonaldi Motorsport the first two seasonal wins thanks to Pull-Snoeks in Race 1 and Blomstedt-Kujala in Race 2.
Snoeks and Blomstedt are the drivers to take part in the first qualifying session characterized by a red flag exposed in the middle of the same: the Dutchman gets the fourth best time, while the Swede is the author of the best performance since the start of the season and gains the ninth time. In the second qualifying session Kujala is the best of the Bonaldi Motorsport drivers with the fourth time, while Pull gains the thirteenth position.
In Race 1 Snoeks is author of an excellent start: the Dutchman gains two positions and takes the second place; bad luck, however, for Blomstedt who is buffered by another competitor and ends up in the group compromising his own race. Pull replaces Snoeks in the half race pit stop and defends the second position in a sprint finish, after several minutes under the safety car to allow the removal of a car from a dangerous position: a penalty received after the end of the race to the leaders gives the Bonaldi Motorsport duo the first win of the season.
A sudden downpour affected the early laps of the race, having also forced the race start to take place behind the safety car, with several teams changing their strategy at the last minute, gambling on the changeable weather conditions to make their tyre choices. Excellent first stint by Kujala who immediately leads behind the leader, starting from the second row. After the pit stop, his teammate Blomstedt takes him to the wheel in first position. The Pull-Snoeks car is delayed. Slowed by several back markers, Blomstedt sees his margin on his pursuers reduced to nothing in two laps. Eight minutes from the end, the Swedish Lamborghini Huracan is hit by another competitor and finishes against a track marshals corner. The red flag is immediate, the race is permanently interrupted and the final result frozen on the previous lap with Blomstedt-Kujala winners. Both Blomstedt and the four commissioners involved in the accident are promptly transported to hospital for medical checks and later declared out of danger.
The fact that Fredrik and the track marshals involved in the accident of Race 2 are fortunately in good condition, allows us to enjoy the two wins!
