In an amazing Race 2, which was characterised by a sudden downpour, Kujala and Pavlovic ended the race on the tenth position, the last one to gain points. Spengler and Zonzini forced to drop out…
In extremely difficult weather conditions with rain, wind and darkness Qualifying Practice for Race 2 started in Zandvoort. For Bonaldi Motorsport two were the drivers: the Serbian Milos Pavlovic on the Lamborghini Huracán no. 3 car and the German Florian Spengler on the no. 32 one. At the first clocked lap, the two drivers obtained more or less the same time which pushed them at the middle of the line-up. Spengler performed better in the following two laps while Pavlovic did his best on the fourth. Meanwhile, rain became heavy and it was impossible to improve the results. At the end, for Bonaldi Motorsport the session ended with a good team result which prepared the ground for a race as protagonists. In fact, Pavlovic started the race on the tenth position while Spengler on the fifteenth.
Race 2 was welcomed by the sun but started in more demanding conditions than usual: in particular, Pavlovic had to defend himself from the continuous attacks by Engelhart and from the “very close” attack by Zanella during the first lap. After nearly ten minutes from the beginning of the race, the safety car was required because of an accident behind the front line. Pavlovic was ninth while Spengler sixteenth. At this point an unexpected heavy downpour hit the racetrack. Pavlovic, as other drivers did, went back to the pit to change in rain tyres. Spengler went on the race behind the safety car. When the race started again, the German driver was ninth and the Serbian was down to the eighteenth position but, even if the rain was less heavy, the racetrack was wet and this allowed him to recover some positions. At the middle of the race, while the racetrack was becoming drier, Spengler ended unfortunately his excellent performance in the sand. Pavlovic performed a good recovery living his car to Kujala nearly in the points zone. A new safety car shelved the race for some minutes. When the race started again, Kujala was fifteenth: after few laps, the fast Finnish driver was twelfth and during the last lap he took profit of an accident between the two cars that were in front of him and placed tenth. This allowed him to gain points deservedly in this incredible weekend.
