In the first race on Sachsenring circuit, Emanuele Zonzini, together with Florian Spengler, placed fifth in the Junior Cup and obtained absolute tenth position. Kujala-Pavlovic were unfortunately forced to stop.
Sachsenring circuit, which has always been part of the ADAC GT Masters championship, used to facilitate mid-engine cars like Lamborghini ones. The Bonaldi Motorsport yellow Huracàn cars had great performance starting from the first round of Qualifying Session. The first to join the racetrack were the German driver Florian Spenlger, with no. 32 car shared with Emanuele Zonzini, and the Finnish driver Patrick Kujala, with no. 3 car shared with Milos Pavlovic. Just after eight minutes from the start, Spengler excited the spectators reaching the fourth absolute position. As to Kujala, after a series of excellent results, he raced a lap which was almost perfect despite the huge traffic on the racetrack. This high speed lap allowed him to reach the pole position with the absolute record in the third sector of the racetrack. The session was then interrupted and, when the race started again, three cars could do a better result than Kujala’s one. The driver was prudently kept in his pit to preserve the tyre for the afternoon race. In fact, the fourth absolute result at very few tenths from the pole position was an excellent premise. Spengler too could confirm his position within the top twenty drivers.
Due to the fact that he had to serve the penalty of three positions after a crash in Oschersleben, Kujala placed seventh at the start of Race 1. The speeding start was chaotic but the Finnish driver was good at remaining calm and keeping his position. After the entry of two safety cars in a little bit more than ten minutes, Kujala, tight into two Audi cars, was victim of a crash which forced him to stop.
A perfect strategy at the pit taking advantage of the four safety cars, together with a mistakeless driving by Spengler, enabled the second yellow Huracàn car to restart after the driver change on the seventh position. Zonzini, who replaced Spengler at the driving, could resist the rivals’ attacks exciting the huge group of spectators. He finished the race on the absolute tenth position. He also obtained excellent fifth place in the Junior Cup.
