In the penultimate round of the season in Spa, the driver of Bonaldi Motorsport Dean Stoneman came out one lap from the end of race 1 and lost the championship leadership…
Spa Francorchamps (BEL). The weekend just held on the legendary Belgian track of Spa Francorchamps was not a positive one for Bonaldi Motorsport: the English driver Dean Stoneman lost, in fact, the first place in the championship standings. To compromise the success in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo was, in fact, the daring final of race 1 which ended with the car of the English driver disconsolately parked on the track when there was a lap to the checkered flag. Stoneman is excellent in the two qualifying sessions, obtaining the second and the third time on the grid. Race 1 starts with a very cloudy sky and a wet track: the English driver, good start for him, defends the second position for several laps, but then slips to fourth just before the opening of the pit lane for the obligatory halfway race pit stop. In the meantime it began to rain heavily: the English driver battles for the second position with two other competitors, but one lap from the end a contact pushed him out, forcing him to abandon his car on the track. In the second race of the weekend, after a less than optimal start, Stoneman proves to have a good pace: first he takes back the third position, then he makes a nice overtaking that puts him in the second place. Upon returning to the track after the mid-race pit stop, an accident involving three cars forces the race direction to display the red flag and to end the race early: Stoneman is third overall, first in the Pro.
.Obviously, it was not a positive weekend as our retirement in the first race actually cost us the first place in the championship standings: we are ready to fight for it in the last race of the season.
