In the first seasonal round in Monza, Bonaldi Motorsport had two retirements and two placings: the Serbian couple Matic-Pavlovic reaches the fourth place in Pro-Am class in race 1, Mayrink-Pijl are seventh in Pro class in race 2…
Monza (ITA). The opening weekend of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo held in Monza, has reserved little satisfaction to Bonaldi Motorsport that was presented with three out of four rookie drivers. The first qualifying session has shown, however, the goodness of the 2021 project with the Dutch Daan Pijl sixth a few tenths from the pole and Milos Pavlovic second in the Pro-Am class. The frantic start of race 1 is fatal for Pijl, involved in a contact at the Prima Variante and forced to retire; excellent start for Pavlovic who gains several positions and, keeping an excellent race pace, reaches the fifth place overall. The second part of the race ends with a spectacular arrival to flag of Petar Matic that, taken over the guide from Pavlovic, closes at the fourth place of class. In race 2, after the immediate exit of the Serbian couple, it is Erik Mayrink to drive the first part of the race: the Brazilian joins the middle group before giving the car to Pijl. The young Dutchman, after a couple of laps under the safety car regime, starts a comeback that brings him to close in seventh position in the Pro Cup.
.For me it was the first time in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the first time in Monza. In qualifying I had a bit of bad luck, but the pace was good; in race 1 I was involved in a contact at the start that forced me to retire, while in race 2 I pushed as hard as I could. A huge thank you goes to the team and the sponsors, from the next race I want to repay them with a great result
.Returning to race with Bonaldi Motorsport is like being back in the family, I’m really very happy for this: overall the first weekend of the season went quite well thanks to the placement in race 1. The goal is to get more satisfaction during the season
.It has been a difficult weekend with three out of four drivers at their debut in the category: the greatest satisfaction comes from the performance of Daan Pijl who showed immediate adaptability and uncommon speed skills
