In the second-last round of the season Bonaldi Motorsport defends the leadership in the championship of Afanasiev-Kroes, second in Race 1 and third in Race 2, and the third place of Bartholomew-Middleton, second in Race 2…
Nurburgring (GER). When at the end of the season there is only the round of Jerez de la Frontera, Bonaldi Motorsport leads the overall standings with Afanasiev-Kroes and remains in the battle for the title also with the other car driven by Bartholomew-Middleton, third in championship. After the mid-season streak of victories, in the fifth round disputed on the Nurburgring circuit, Bonaldi Motorsport achieved a double podium in Race 2, with Bartholomew-Middleton in second place and Afanasiev-Kroes in third place, and the second step of the podium in Race 1 with the championship leaders. The weekend started very well with the achievement of the front row in the qualifying for Race 1 thanks to Danny Kroes’ pole position and to the second time of Jack Bartholomew. The race did not give great emotions: the decisive moment was after the pit stops, when Sergey Afanasiev lost the first position at the Mercedes Arena; chills for Stuart Middleton who at the end was the author of a complete 360 degree that made him lose two positions, the Englishman was good at recovering one just at the last lap. In race 2 Afanasiev is the author of an amazing start that from fifth place puts him immediately in third position behind Middleton; the Russian is also the first of the leading group to make the pit stop. Positions crystallized up to the checkered flag with Bartholomew second and Kroes third.
.We knew it would be a tough weekend and so it was: we have, however, conquered two podiums that allow us to maintain our leadership in the standings
.We did a good job, especially in Race 1, with the car which was very good as always
.It wasn’t a totally positive weekend for us, even though I did my best qualifying from the start of the season, but we kept the fight for the title open
.We scored points in both races, although it was a pity to lose the podium in Race 1 just minutes from the checkered flag
