In Race 1 of Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Silverstone the couple Amstutz-Kujala greatly won in the PRO-AM category. Barbosa-Vera placed third in PRO-AM as well. Absolute third position for Martin Kodric
The trip across the Channel started in a surely complicated way for Bonaldi Motorsport: in fact, during Free Practice last Thursday Patrick Kujala, who wasn’t at fault, was rear-ended by another driver at a high speed. The effects were remarkable: his Huracàn car was out of order for the weekend while Patrick felt pain in his left leg. With a gesture of times gone by, the Swiss driver Rolf Ineichen, who was in Silverstone to replace his convalescent brother Mark, decided to give his own car to his teammates fighting for the PRO-AM victory. Kujala rewarded Rolf’s good sportsmanship reaching the pole position in his category in spite of his injury. Amstutz obtained an excellent result in the second session reaching the sixth place on the Sunday grid. The Race 2 pole position in the PRO-AM category went to the other Bonaldi Motorsport crew thanks to William Barbosa’s performance. His teammate Ricardo Vera placed seventh in the first session of Qualifying Practice. In the PRO category the Croatian Martin Kodric was perfectly at ease: he obtained the fourth position in both sessions.
Race 1 excited the spectators till the last curve of the last lap… After a good start, Kujala, who was first in PRO-AM, reached the absolute third position and left his car to his teammate Amstutz with a huge margin from the PRO-AM second position. The Swiss driver was good at keeping the first position in PRO-AM and ending the race easily gaining his second success of the season. The other Bonaldi Motorsport couple of drivers completed the PRO-AM podium. When the race started, the Puerto Rican Vera brilliantly reached the fourth position and in the final two laps his mate Barbosa made a crucial overtaking allowing them to reach the third step of the podium. For Kodric, an exciting race: after a suffering start, the Croatian driver reached the absolute third position and he was great in keeping it till the finish line.
Today’s race let me feel confident in the championship! Last lap was incredible: I was tight between Schlegelmilch and Cullen who turned over in front of me. I had that cold-heartedness which allowed me to drive along my trajectory and reach the podium I missed in Monza!
I’m sure today’s podium will be the first of a long sequence: Barbosa and I showed our big potential and I think we will be able to compete for the PRO-AM title… with our teammates Kujala and Amstutz!
